Create a ‘Desktop’ on your iPad!

An iPad Desktop

I love using my iPad pro, so much so that I've stopped carrying my laptop home with me.

The problem I have found though is that while since iOS 13 you can view, and manipulate files like never before you still don't have a "Desktop" as such. I don't mean a UI that shows files neatly arranged next to each other, what I want is a temporary location to store files while I edit them.

The current options

Hmm. Where to start?? There's nothing. Well I suppose there's the downloads folder if you've just downloaded the file but what if you've received it via airdrop?

The Solution

The solution is actually pretty straight forward. I have a /temp/ folder within my iCloud Drive that I move all documents to. You can add this folder to your favourites within the files app and, bingo, you have an inelegant solution but a solution non the less.
